Ultramarine Blue is a synthetic inorganic pigment. It is a blue pigment made from sodium aluminosilicate containing sulfur. The pigment is created by heating kaolin, sodium carbonate, sulfur, and other cost effective ingredients together. Ultramarine Blue is heat and alkali resistant. It is used to achieve optical whiteness in plastics, rubber, inks, paints, cosmetics, detergents, cement, textiles, and paper.

As a consumer product, Ultramarine Blue is commonly used to brighten white cotton fabrics after washing and to impart blue color and brightness to plastics and rubber in various industries. It serves as a brightening agent in whitewashing and is the only Ultramarine Blue pigment that does not fade under sunlight or heat up to 350 degree C. It has various other applications, including.

  • As a blue colorant in master batches and plastic resins.
